Tubes must always be fitted to centre-lock and bolt-on wire wheels unless the wheels can be confirmed as tubeless
Rim bands are also required unless the wheel is outer-laced or has an application of sealant covering the spoke heads.
The application of sealant over the spoke heads was introduced several years ago for cosmetic reasons to stop rusty water from the rim well running down the spokes. This was before tubeless wire wheels were developed so please check before fitting.
Tyre fitters should always be warned to take extra care when fitting tyres to tubed or tubeless wire wheels with sealant as damage may occur to the sealant during the fitting process and this can cause the tyre to deflate.
Applying sealant to the rim well does not make a tubed wheel tubeless
